TEXT WATERMARK CLARITY
Invisible Unicode vs AI Watermarks
Invisible Unicode characters are text code points. They can be found in pasted text; image watermarks and statistical authorship signals are different problems.
The short answer
A text cleaner can inspect the characters that are actually present in a string. It can report listed invisible Unicode code points, show their positions, and remove the types you select. It cannot inspect pixels in an image, infer who wrote a passage, or prove that a text-generation system added a statistical watermark.
Paste text into the browser-based cleaner to see the distinction in practice. Your text stays in the browser tab.
THE DIFFERENCE
Three things people call a watermark
Invisible Unicode: a code point in the text stream, such as U+200B ZERO WIDTH SPACE or U+2060 WORD JOINER. A code-point inspector can locate it because it is part of the string.
Image or video watermark: a visible mark, metadata record, or pixel-level signal in media. A text-only page cannot read or remove those bytes.
Statistical text signal: a pattern in word choices, token probabilities, or phrasing. It is not a hidden character, so finding no listed Unicode character says nothing about whether such a pattern exists.
CHECK BEFORE CLEANING
A practical decision table
| What you have | What a text checker can show | What it cannot establish |
|---|---|---|
| Pasted text with U+200B or U+FEFF | The code point, its position, context, and the result after selected removal | Who inserted it or why it was inserted |
| A PNG, JPEG, or video with a visible mark | Nothing from the media file in a text-only workflow | Whether the pixels or metadata contain a media watermark |
| Plain text that looks normal | Whether this page's listed characters occur in the string | Whether an authorship classifier or statistical watermark would flag it |
The examples above describe the boundary of this site's browser text tools. They are a scope guide, not a claim that every invisible character or watermark belongs to one category.
QUICK ANSWERS
Invisible Unicode vs AI watermark FAQ
Can invisible Unicode characters be checked in text?
Yes. This site's text tools inspect the listed code points in pasted text and show the positions before selected removal.
Does removing a hidden character remove an image watermark?
No. Image and video marks live in media pixels, frames, or file metadata. A text cleaner does not process those formats.
Does a clean scan prove text is not AI-generated?
No. A clean scan only means the listed invisible characters were not found or were removed. It is not an authorship test.
